The Section of Exact and Engineering Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova invites to the Scientific Conference "Nanotechnologies are changing the world". Academician Ion Tighineanu, President of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, honorary member of the Romanian Academy, will lecture in the frame of the Conference involved.

The scientific event will take place on March 24th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the Blue Hall of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (bd. Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt, 1). Greeting messages are expected from the authorities, the Romanian Academy, the European Parliament, and international experts.

The lecture will be live-streamed by the Institute for the Development of the Information Society and Privesc.eu.

The public lecture will reflect the rise of nanotechnologies on a global scale in the 21st Century, starting with the launch of the first nanotechnology initiative in the USA by President Bill Clinton. The contributions to the development of this field by scientists from the Republic of Moldova, made under the leadership of acad. Ion Tighineanu, will also be highlighted, especially by the collaborators of the National Center for Study and Testing of Materials, founded in 2001 at the Technical University of Moldova. Among the resonant achievements surface charge lithography and hopping electrodeposition will be mentioned, as well as a series of innovative nanomaterials, among which Aerogalnite stands out - the first artificial material with dual hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties, that simultaneously attracts and repels water and possesses enormous potential for practical use.

The public lecture, given by academician Ion Tighineanu, will be supplemented by the speech of Mr. Eduard Monaico, the first student to complete two theses - a doctorate in science and a doctor habilitated - within the National Center for Materials Study and Testing.

Full members, corresponding members, designated members of the Science Sections, scientific researchers, university professors, scientists and cultural figures are invited to the event.
